Welcome to St Mary Star of the Sea, Carnarvon

“In partnership with the home, parish and community we nurture the development of the whole child”

“The Director General of the Department of Education is responsible for ensuring that the school observes the registration standards, including the standard about its complaints handling system. Any student, parent or community member is entitled to contact the Director General with concerns about how the school has dealt with a complaint. Information is available on the Department of Education website. While the Director General may consider whether the school has breached the registration standards, she does not have power to intervene in a complaint or override the school’s decision.”

FOCUS OF THE WEEK - Week 8

Focus of the week 8-9 (FOW)- Research shows that relationships are the heart of wellbeing & learning. When we get friendships right in schools, children flourish!

Primary classes engage in Friendship Skills curriculum lessons based on training provided to staff on UrStrong- Urstrong School Training.

We are extending these Friendship Skills lessons to Year 7 and 8, where teachers will collaborate to guide and support students as they navigate the complexities of friendship groups and relationships. Urstrong highlights that healthy relationships are the #1 predictor of happiness and success and the top protector factor against mental health conditions and loneliness. Parents are encouraged to discuss with their children how Friendship Skills can (and must) be explicitly taught!

WA Student Assistance Payment
The new WA Student Assistance Payment will provide parents and carers with a $250 payment for each secondary student, and $150 for each primary school student or kindergartener.
